Beginning with a 2018 collaboration with a material scientist, Kajsa Willner’s Polarized Portraits explores how bending, blocking, and transforming light can reveal colorful stress patterns in clear plastic, turning an everyday material into expressive wall lights and lamps. In 2019, Willner created a site-specific installation for Designmuseum Danmark as part of CHART’s CURIO initiative. Designed to come alive after dark, the installation revealed hidden colors and shifting gradients in the plastic, creating luminous material portraits for passersby.
